Eligibility & fees
- Age: you should have completed 15 years and should not have completed 24 years as on 11 December 2026. Relaxations as per the notice — SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years, PwBD 10 years.
- Education: Class 10 (SSC/Matriculation) with at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised board, plus ITI in the relevant trade issued by NCVT/SCVT. Candidates still awaiting their Class 10 or ITI result on the notification date are NOT eligible.
- Slots by cluster: Lucknow 1,525, Delhi 1,312, Ambala 979, Firozpur 740, Moradabad 63, Jammu 32 — 4,651 training slots in all for 2026-27.
- Selection is purely by merit — the simple average of your Class 10 percentage and ITI percentage, giving equal weightage to both. There is NO written exam and NO interview. The merit list is prepared cluster, trade and community-wise; ties go to the older candidate, then to whoever passed Class 10 earlier.
- The merit list is expected in February 2027. Training period and stipend are as per the extant rules applicable.
- ₹100 for General, OBC and EWS candidates, paid online as part of the form — the fee is not refunded.
- No fee for SC, ST, PwBD and women candidates.
- Last date to apply and pay the fee: 11 December 2026 (11:59 PM).
Photo & signature — what the form asks
- Photograph: JPG format, 10-50 KB.
- Signature: JPG format, 10-50 KB — sign in running hand; a signature in capital letters is a listed rejection ground.
- Left thumb impression (LHT): JPG format, 10-50 KB.
- The notice rejects applications whose photo shows the candidate wearing goggles, a cap or a wig — use a clear, recent, front-facing photo.
Photo & signature — do’s and don’ts
Do this
- Keep the photo, signature and thumb impression each inside 10-50 KB in JPG format — one single band for all three.
- Choose your cluster, unit and trade carefully — slots are cluster, unit and trade specific, and only one application is allowed.
- Calculate your Class 10 and ITI percentages exactly as printed on the certificates — the merit list is the straight average of the two.
- Apply well before the last date — the RRC itself warns that the website gets busy in the final days.
- Save and print the submitted application and the fee payment slip for your records.
Avoid this
- Do not submit more than one application — the notice says ALL applications of such a candidate will be rejected, with no fee refund.
- Do not expect a correction window — no change of any kind is allowed after final submission.
- Do not wear goggles, a cap or a wig in the photograph.
- Do not sign in CAPITAL letters only.
- Do not treat this training as a promise of a railway job.

Common mistakes that get forms rejected
- Submitting two applications — the notice rejects every application of that candidate.
- Trying to fix an error after final submission — no change is allowed afterwards, so check everything before you submit.
- A photo with goggles, a cap or a wig, or a signature in capital letters — all are listed rejection grounds in the notice.
- Counting the Class 10 or ITI percentage wrongly — merit is the straight average of the two, so one wrong figure drops the rank.
