Photo & signature — what the form asks
- Photo: LIVE capture during the form — the 2026 NTPC form takes your photo through the camera while you apply; an old studio file may not be accepted.
- Photo (standby, only if your category offers an upload option): 35 x 45 mm passport-style JPG, roughly 20-50 KB, on a white or light background.
- Signature: JPG, 30-49 KB, minimum 140 x 60 pixels — running handwriting (not block capitals), black or blue pen on plain white paper.
Photo & signature — do’s and don’ts
Do this
- Sit facing a plain, light-coloured wall, with the light on your face — not behind you
- Keep the camera at eye level so your full face is visible and sharp
- Sign in running handwriting with a black or blue pen on plain white paper
- Photograph just the signature, cropped tight
- Aim for about 40 KB — the middle of the 30-49 KB band
Avoid this
- No cap or sunglasses for the live photo
- Do not reuse a bank or SSC signature file — their 10-20 KB band fails here
- Do not sign in BLOCK CAPITAL letters
- Do not let the signature slip below 30 KB — it is rejected just as firmly
- Do not depend on an old studio photo file — the 2026 form captures the photo live
Taiyaari checklist — keep these ready
- Your one-time account on rrbapply.gov.in — the form needs it before anything else
- Signature scan ready: JPG, 30-49 KB, at least 140 x 60 px, running handwriting
- Aadhaar and Class 10 certificate side by side — the name and date of birth must match 100%
- For the live photo: a plain, light-coloured wall and light falling on your face
- Copies of the final files, kept safe with your application number
Documents you will need
- Signature — JPG, 30-49 KB, minimum 140 x 60 px
- Passport-style photo, 35 x 45 mm, JPG, roughly 20-50 KB — standby only, if your category offers an upload option; the form itself captures the photo live
Form Kit — prepare every file here, free
Signature — set target 40 KB
Compress your signature scan with the target set to 40 KB — safely inside the 30-49 KB band. Below 30 KB is rejected too.
Compress image to a sizePhoto resize (standby)
If your category offers a photo upload, resize a passport-style photo here. The main form itself uses a live camera photo.
Resize imageDocument PDF — make it smaller
If a certificate PDF runs large, compress it here and keep the final size within what the notice asks.
Compress PDF to a sizeEvery tool runs inside your browser — nothing is uploaded and no sign-up is needed.
Common mistakes that get forms rejected
- Uploading the old 10-20 KB bank-exam signature — rejected on size alone
- A signature style that differs from your exam-hall signature — mismatches cause trouble at document verification
- Leaving the files to the correction window — when it opens, it is short; get them right now
