Eligibility & fees

  • 5,431 posts in all: FDA 2,726 (RPC 2,163 + Kalyana-Karnataka 563) and SDA 2,705 (RPC 2,070 + Kalyana-Karnataka 635), plus allied posts like Accounts Assistant, Warden, Hostel Supervisor and computer-operator posts.
  • FDA posts need a Bachelor's degree; SDA posts need 2nd PUC (12th pass) or a diploma, post-wise. The qualification must be held on or before 25 November 2026 — candidates awaiting results are not eligible.
  • Age (as on 25 November 2026): minimum 18; maximum 40 for General Merit, 43 for Cat-2A/2B/3A/3B, 45 for SC/ST/Cat-1 — these maximums already include a one-time 5-year relaxation. PwD candidates, widows and ex-servicemen get further relaxation as per the notice.
  • A compulsory Kannada Language Test (150 marks, minimum 50 to pass) applies unless you are exempt — for example, if you studied Kannada as a first or second language up to SSLC or higher.
  • Selection: offline OMR competitive exam — Paper-1 General Knowledge (100 marks) and Paper-2 General Kannada, General English & Computer Knowledge (100 marks); a minimum of 35% is compulsory; −0.25 for every wrong answer, and also for a question left with no circle shaded.
  • General Merit and Cat-2A/2B/3A/3B: ₹750.
  • SC, ST, Cat-1, Ex-servicemen and Transgender candidates: ₹500. PwD candidates: ₹250.
  • The fee is paid online only, last date 26 November 2026 — and the fee once paid is not refunded.

Photo & signature — what the form asks

  • Photo: JPEG, recent passport photograph on a white background, file size 50 KB to 200 KB.
  • Signature: JPEG, 50 KB to 70 KB — sign with a black sketch/marker pen on white paper and scan it.
  • The notice fixes no pixel dimensions or DPI — only the format and the KB bands above.
  • Uploads outside these bands can get the application rejected — check every file size before you submit.

Photo & signature — do’s and don’ts

Do this

  • Aim for about 100 KB for the photo and about 60 KB for the signature — safely inside both bands
  • Sign with a black sketch or marker pen on plain white paper, and crop the scan to the signature area
  • Keep every semester marks card, the PDC and the caste/reservation certificates (with RD number) ready before you start
  • Fill the form in one sitting and re-check names and dates against your SSLC record before submitting — nothing can be corrected later

Avoid this

  • Do not submit a photo or signature outside the KB band — non-conforming uploads are rejected
  • Do not wait for the last day — the form closes 25 November 2026 and there is no correction at any stage
  • Do not apply expecting to fix a wrong category later — only the reservation claimed in the application counts
  • Do not leave a question with no circle shaded in the OMR expecting no penalty — an unshaded question also loses 0.25

Taiyaari checklist — keep these ready

  • Your registration on the KEA portal cetonline.karnataka.gov.in
  • Photo ready in the 50-200 KB band — JPEG, white background
  • Signature ready in the 50-70 KB band — JPEG, black sketch pen on white paper
  • SSLC/birth proof, semester marks cards and PDC ready
  • Caste/reservation certificates in the prescribed forms, with the RD number
  • Fee money ready online — ₹750 / ₹500 / ₹250 by category, payable by 26 November 2026

Documents you will need

  • Photo — JPEG, 50-200 KB
  • Signature — JPEG, 50-70 KB
  • SSLC / birth certificate (date-of-birth proof)
  • Semester marks cards and PDC / degree certificate
  • Caste and reservation certificates with RD number, as claimed

Common mistakes that get forms rejected

  • Submitting the form with a detail wrong — after submission nothing can be changed at any stage
  • Photo below 50 KB or above 200 KB, or a signature outside the 50-70 KB band
  • Treating the Kannada Language Test as optional — below 50 of 150 makes you ineligible, even with good exam marks
  • Claiming a reservation in the form that your certificates (with RD number) do not support

How to apply — step by step

  1. Open the KEA portal cetonline.karnataka.gov.in and complete your registration
  2. Choose your post carefully — FDA (degree level) or SDA (PUC level) — and fill personal and education details exactly as in your records
  3. Upload the photo (JPEG, 50-200 KB) and signature (JPEG, 50-70 KB)
  4. Enter the reservation-certificate (RD) numbers exactly as printed on your certificates
  5. Pay the fee online — ₹750 / ₹500 / ₹250 by category — by 26 November 2026
  6. Submit by 25 November 2026 and save or print the application copy — nothing can be edited after submission
