Eligibility & fees
- Vacancies as per Vacancy Notice No. 2 dated 3 November 2026: Electrical 250, Civil 48, Computer Science 21 — 309 regular plus 10 backlog posts. There are NO Electronics posts in this notice, although the original advertisement had listed Electronics tentatively.
- Education: full-time B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engineering) in the relevant discipline with at least 60% marks, plus a valid GATE 2026 score in the matching paper (EE for Electrical, CE for Civil, CS for Computer Science). GATE 2025 or older scores are NOT accepted.
- Maximum age 28 years as on 31 December 2025, with relaxations as per the advertisement.
- Selection: GATE 2026 normalised marks carry 85% weightage, Group Discussion 3% and Interview 12%. There is no separate written test by POWERGRID. After one year of training, trainees are absorbed as Engineer (E2).
- ₹500 for candidates who are not exempt; the fee is not refunded.
- SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and departmental candidates are exempt from the fee.
- Pay the fee online through the candidate login by 18 November 2026 — an application without the fee is rejected.
Photo & signature — what the form asks
- The advertisement does not print a fixed KB size for the photo and signature — upload them in the format and size the portal asks for on the upload screen.
- Keep a recent colour photograph and a clear signature scan (signed on white paper) ready before you start.
- Upload only clear, readable scans; a blurred photo or signature can get the form rejected.
Photo & signature — do’s and don’ts
Do this
- Keep your GATE 2026 Registration Number and Application Number ready — the application is built on them.
- Apply for the discipline that matches both your degree and your GATE 2026 paper.
- Remember only GATE 2026 scores count — do not apply with a 2025 score.
- Pay the ₹500 fee online by 18 November 2026, 11:59 PM if you are not exempt.
- Electronics graduates: check the vacancy table first — this notice has no EC posts.
Avoid this
- Do not apply with a GATE 2025 or older score; it will be rejected outright.
- Do not send any hard copy by post — the advertisement says none is to be sent.
- Do not assume Electronics posts exist because the original advt mentioned them; the 3 November vacancy notice lists only EE, CE and CS.
- Do not miss the short window — applications opened on 3 November and close on 18 November.
- Do not enter GATE details differently from the GATE 2026 scorecard.

Common mistakes that get forms rejected
- Applying with an older GATE score — only GATE 2026 is valid for Advt CC/04/2025.
- Electronics candidates applying without noticing there are zero EC vacancies in the 3 November notice.
- Entering the GATE registration details wrongly, so the score cannot be fetched.
- Leaving the fee unpaid — the notice treats an unpaid application as rejected.
